red - howard smith
Werk
Howard Smith
Howard Smith wurde 1943 in Chicago geboren, lebt und arbeitet in - Poughkeepsie New York. Er unterrichtete unter anderem an verschiedenen Instituten - Pratt Brooklyn Institute, New York - The School of Visual Arts, New York - The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

art work
This work by Howard Smith from 1966 is a rare early work. The red body is supported by white and dark tones. The placement on the right side of the sheet gives this artwork its power and radicalism. There are only a few such works on the market as they are highly valued by the artist himself. In the exhibition Howard Smith - No End in Sight, which was held simultaneously in 2019 at the Kunstmuseum Villa Zanders in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, and at the Kunstmuseum Appenzell in Switzerland, four works from this series were exhibited. The displayed work originally comes from Howard Smith's private portfolio. For a long time, this work was in the private collection of Galerie Patrik Fröhlich in Zurich.

Howard Smith was born 1943 in Chicago. He is still living and working in Poughkeepsie New York. Over the years he was teaching in different institutions such as - Pratt Brooklyn Institute, New York - The School of Visual Arts, New York - The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. As a member of the painters mouvement group - RADICAL PAINTING in the 1980s, radicality and colour still remain two elementary aspects of his abstract painting work today.
